Join us for the Downtown Download, DSA’s economic development series where we take a deeper look at the initiatives and issues shaping downtown.

At our March meeting, we’ll hear from local leaders about Seattle’s post-viaduct waterfront to understand the financing, design and programming of this generation-defining investment. Come learn how:

  • the city and private property owners negotiated a local improvement district,
  • the design team and city have evolved the project, and
  • Friends of Waterfront Seattle plans to program and activate this space in the years ahead, beginning late 2019 on Pier 62.

We will also hear from David Stroble, Ring Family Group president and Lake Union Ferry Company principal, about the newly proposed Lake Union Ferries.

A New Vision for Third Avenue
Dec. 12, 2018

At our December meeting, we took the first look at a new vision for Third Avenue. For years, this challenged corridor has served as the front door for downtown, but it continues to face a complex set of challenges related to public safety, urban design and a lack of stewardship.

Attendees learned how a coalition of public and private stakeholders—led by DSA— is charting a new vision for this corridor and the plans being implemented.

We also heard from local political consultant, Ben Anderstone about the political landscape and what we can expect for the 2019 City Council elections.
